Tropical Cannabis Treatment For Skin Problems

tropical cannabis strains for skin problems

Fun Fact! The human skin weighs about 8 kilograms. This makes it one of the largest organs. The first and primary function of the skin is to protect and acts as a barrier. It also acts as a regulator, for instance, body temperature and the synthesizing of Vitamin D. The skin can also feel because there is a network of nerve cells. So, the most important function of the skin is to protect the body from chemical, biological or mechanical attacks.

With all this in mind, most people do not take care of their skins. Any change in the skin can have an effect on the physical and psychological levels.  Because of that, many who have problems with their skins do not know what to do about it.

What creates skin problems?

Skin problems are not a seasonal problem. But it often is more prominent in winter. Many of us have real problems with dry skin. Many factors can influence dry skin like cold weather, exposure to chemicals, dry air, diabetes, hypothyroidism, and the PH of the skin. Dry skin can be hurtful and uncomfortable. Chronic skin diseases like Eczema, Atopic Dermatitis or Psoriasis are very likely linked to a genetic disorder. Your lifestyle and the environment might also be a contributing factor. Sometimes even the medication you use plays a role.

Skin conditions are quite common and are frequently caused by stress. Other factors like obesity, poor health habits, smoking, and alcohol could also be the cause. Then there are environmental factors like dust or mite allergies, or allergies for plants and animals too.

There are many symptoms present and it could vary from itchiness and dry skin to red skin and blisters and even lesions in severe cases. Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease, and Eczema is a result of external allergens.

How can Cannabis aid skin conditions?

The skin has its own endocannabinoid system with CB1 and CB2 receptors in all the cells. CB1 receptors are found in the nerve endings and fibers of the cells. The skin can bind and metabolize Anandamide, because of the presence of the receptors.

The ECS of the skin helps to regulate the production of many hormones and proteins. Understanding this makes it easier to see how imbalanced skin can cause skin disorders.

Cannabinoids play and important part in the response to allergic reactions. In a study on mice, those who did not have cannabinoid receptors, had an increase of immune cell recruiting. Blocking the CB2 receptors led to inflammation. With an application of topical cannabis, the skin absorbed cannabinoids like THC and CBD, and reduced inflammation and pain.

Because the skin has the ability to absorb, it does well with topical ointments containing cannabis. When applied, the effect is almost instant. Skin infections also benefit from it. When applied to the temples, or pressure points on the head, it even relieves headaches and migraines.

Different Cannabis Topical Ointments

Topical Cannabis Rubbing Alcohol

Making your own rubbing oil is not difficult. Utilize a pint-size jar and fill it 25% with ground weed. Add rubbing oil. The best ratio is 1-part cannabis to 2-3 parts of rubbing oil. Keep it for 2 to 4 weeks in a cool dry place. Shake it sporadically. Use cheesecloth or some coffee filters to strain it through. Store always in a dark bottle.

Topical Cannabis Rubbing Oil

Ground any amount of dry cannabis and cover it with oil. Coconut oil, hemp oil or olive oil work well. Make sure that all of the material is covered. Put it in a dry place and shake daily. Use a sieve to filter it through and keep it in a dark container.

Topical Cannabis Lotion

Take ground cannabis, the amount is optional, and heat it in a crockpot for about an hour. Coconut oil or olive oil is best. Keep it in a jar for about 2 to 3 months. Use cheesecloth to filter it. Reheat the substance with beeswax to thicken it. Aloe Vera gel can be added to form a lotion.

Topical Cannabis Salve

Take 1 cup of cannabis-infused oil and a 1/3 cup of beeswax to it. Beeswax helps to reduce fattiness. Add a ¼ cup of organic olive oil to smooth it out. Essential oils could also be used as replacement.  Heat it up in a pan. Test for the desired thickness by letting a spoonful rest for a bit.  Whisk sporadically until beeswax is melted. Pour into mixing bowl. Let it stand until partially solidified. Whip for a minute or two and pour into containers ready to use. Note: Shea or cocoa butter can also be used.

These above-mentioned cannabis topical treatments can be used as are a guide to help you find the desired way to treat the skin problem you are suffering from.
