Nobody takes a second look if a mom drinks alcohol. In fact, tons of memes depicting the humor of why moms need to drink are on the internet. We find it funny; it’s accepted.

But when we speak of a mother (or father for that matter) who smokes pot, everything goes up in smoke. Maybe Child Protective Services would even get involved. What’s up with that?

The truth is that parents, regardless of socioeconomic status, financial background, age, and ethnicity have to suffer through the exact same problems. There’s the extreme stress that comes with managing a job and keeping the family together. The anxiety that comes with bills each month. The never ending chaos that comes with wearing at least three hats (spouse, parent, businessman/employee). Then there’s depression, financial distress, and wondering if you’re even doing a good job in the first place.

And that’s precisely why cannabis can make you an even better parent.

Parents Don’t Need A Lot Of Pot To Benefit From It

First of all, let’s get one thing straight: most pot-smoking parents out there aren’t your stereotypical stoner who spends their days couch-locked. They’re smart and productive, and know how to use cannabis to manage their days and all the tasks that need to be done. In fact, a recent study revealed that more parents are starting to discover the benefits of low-dose cannabis to help them deal with the pressures that come with the territory. The findings of the study revealed that many parents use pot in the morning and the low doses allow them to be more present, focused, and happier with their lives.

Cannabis Makes Stress More Manageable

Let’s face it: parenting is one of the most stressful jobs out there. There’s no such thing as a break – you’re on it, for life. But when you can manage stress efficiently, it sets in motion a slew of other healthy habits which affect your eating and sleeping. In turn, these healthy habits reduce the stress responses in our body. One of cannabis’ most well-known therapeutic benefits is its ability to decrease stress without any harmful side effects. It doesn’t even come with a hangover, and it’s not addictive. Best of all, it works. Any tired mom (that’s just about every mom) will tell you that there’s nothing better than a puff (or bong rip) at the end of a 15 hour day preparing meals, cooking, dropping the kids to school, making it to work, keeping it together at work, picking up the kids, helping with homework, doing the dishes, and everything else in between!

Cannabis Helps Parents Get Better Sleep

Can’t fall asleep because you’re constantly worrying about how to make ends meet? Next thing you know, it’s 5AM and you have to prepare breakfast for the kids. There’s no such thing as a nap once the kids are up, your day is ruled by their hours. It’s tiring as hell; not to mention parents of newborns who barely get a wink for months at a time. The job of parenting will work you to the bone; there is no overtime pay and yet you need rest to do the job well AND stay healthy. And we all know what it’s like to be too tired to even fall asleep. But cannabis is the perfect natural sleep aid for parents. It lets you relax mentally and physically enough to be able to get decent shut-eye, every night.

Eat Better And Set A Good Example

With everything that a parent has to think about and do during the day, it’s not uncommon to miss meals. So much so that a habit of forgetting to eat turns into a nutritional deficiency. It all just piles up, doesn’t it? And to add to the domino effect, if you yourself don’t eat well, how can you force your kids to eat their greens? The solution if for YOU to smoke your greens first. Say goodbye to days subsisting on take-out coffee and leftover meals from the kids. When you start consuming cannabis regularly, it will help you get your appetite back. Of course, we’ve all heard of the munchies. When you keep healthy food around the house and smoke responsibly, it’ll make you want to eat. And eat a lot. You can feel free to binge on healthy food in front of your kids, hitting two birds with one stone.

Have A Better Relationship With Your Spouse

Sleepless nights, crying babies, endless bills, PTA meetings… nothing sucks the romance out of a marriage more than parenthood, right? Parenthood can make relationships suffer, whether you’re barely getting along or one of you is coping with alcohol, and this leads to domestic violence. Cannabis is the solution. It’s good in and out of the bedroom, and helps to taper off the stress that makes it so easy to piss each other off. Cannabis will help you regain your sanity as a parent, as a person, and as a spouse.
