Why CBD is a Parent’s Best Friend

cbd for parents

We live in a time when many things in life simply get so much easier.

But there’s one thing that hasn’t changed: parenting is hard AF. These days, there’s no shortage of stressed out moms and dads, most of whom live life with anxiety and guilt for not being the perfect parent that society expects them to be. Add to that the pressures of making ends meet, and for many families, you’ve got the perfect disaster.

We often make fun out of the wine-drinking mom stereotype, but there’s just far too much truth to it. From sleeping pills to alcohol, parents have long been using chemicals to help them survive those days when you’ve barely gotten any sleep, and receive a punch in the face from your kid.

This is why CBD is a parent’s best friend.

When you’re high strung, seemingly all the time, CBD is the only safe and natural antidote that you need to the stresses of parenting and life in general. This famous chemical has become increasingly popular in the last few months with the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill, which legalized hemp provided that it has less than 0.3% THC. Even if the Food and Drug Administration hasn’t exactly made it easy for consumers to obtain their CBD products legally, that hasn’t stopped people from consuming it in a wide variety of forms, from pills to tinctures and everything in between.

And parents are no different.

CBD Can Save Your Mental Health

It’s hard not to go crazy when you have no sleep, have to drive your kids from one activity to the next, making it to dinner just photo finish, still have to give the kids a bath, and collapsing before the clock strikes 9.

And there’s still so much more you need to do.

Years of endless stress can take a serious toll on the mental health of parents. But that doesn’t mean that we should accept it. Studies show that when stress levels continue to rise over a long period of time, it can cause harm to one’s physical and mental health.

It’s not like you can give up having kids altogether. But you can manage it safely, and that’s important, because if you don’t, your stress can cause depression. We all know how life-threatening depression can be when its left untreated.  CBD is your key to saving your mental health – any parent can tell you how many times they’ve been at their wit’s end.

A recent study conducted by Harris Poll and Quartz, which asked more than 2,000 people about their opinions of CBD as well as their consumption habits, they found that a significant majority of Americans in the United States are well-versed with the benefits of CBD: 86% of respondents have heard of it but less than 20% have actually tried it while just 7% are regular users.

What was interesting was that it verified CBD is being used as a treatment for the modern disease: stress and anxiety. Out of the respondents, 55% said that they turn to CBD as a means of relaxing, 50% use it for treating anxiety and stress, while only 22% say that they use CBD for fun.

Parents Aren’t Getting Sleep – And CBD Can Help

Data from Fitbit, a popular fitness device used to track how many steps you’ve taken and how much sleep you’re getting in a day, parents who are within the 40-50-year-old age bracket get dramatically less sleep compared to anyone else… and it isn’t doing their mental health any good.

Parent or not, anyone can tell you that being anxious or stressed out will also lead to trouble sleeping. However, CBD can help you get some shut-eye. CBD itself doesn’t make you go to sleep, but it’s actually the terpenes in the plant that help sedate you in a natural way, oftentimes even far more effectively than over-the-counter sleep aids. When you take CBD in the evenings, it can help you get that much-needed deep slumber to help you recover, giving you more energy to challenge the next day head-on.

Conclusion

If you think that there will never be a solution to parenting stress until your kids turn 18, think again. CBD, especially when combined with self-care, meditation, and exercise, is truly effective in helping parents cope. It’s the best thing you can do for yourself – because when you’re taking good care of you, then you can do a better job of taking care of your family.
