Step Forward: Heat of the Streets

In such weather, to be honest, I don't want to think not only about dancing, but in general about any unnecessary body movements. But you can see how others doom themselves to these movements. “Step Forward: Heat of the Streets” is not part of the famous franchise (here the localizers are cunning), but cinema, in general, in its style. Here and the dramatic line of the poor hero, forced to participate in the competition because of the money, and spectacular dance numbers, and charismatic characters, some of whom even plug into the belt of the protagonists from the original franchise "Step Up" .

And what is more interesting, Heat of the Streets has a unique Latin American vibe: the film was filmed in Argentina and Colombia, every now and then rap or ethnic music plays in the background, and serious passions flare up between the characters. Not only the skill of choreography, but also the perfect addition to the environment around us all.

"New order"

One of the most controversial films of the year, which will only get to tickle your nerves or inveterate fans of the festival cinema (which, in principle, the same thing). Michel Franco, a frequenter of Cannes and Venice, tells a truly shocking story: "Log Horizon season 3": In the middle of the wedding of the rich, a terrible popular uprising flares up and the streets begin to choke on blood. This movie was criticized for too obvious political overtones and impudent provocation of the viewer. Maul Franco draws such a flat history of the riot that even the artists of propaganda posters will envy him.

"Together-together"

A charming indie comedy straight from Sundance - not only about relationships, but more remarkable, about surrogacy. Single man Matt (Ed Helms) decides to have a baby and turns to young Anna (Patti Harrison). The latter takes responsibility, it seems, not fully understanding how demanding the client will be, and tries to live in the old fashioned way. For example, she takes the guys to her place and does not think about the fact that a baby is already growing inside her. Such a difference in worldview (a very anxious father and a frivolous "mother") leads to the fact that the couple will have to deal not only with a bunch of life problems, but also among themselves.

Despite the theme, director Nicole Beckwith deals with the story in her own playful way: without strain and falsity, but with light irony and love for her own heroes. Fortunately, the performers of the roles here are more than impressive. Ed Helms from The Office , Patty Harrison from Deliver High - two actors of great comedic talent - transform classic characters into unique characters.

"Labyrinth"

The boy Fricke gets his hands on a device that allows him to play ... with living people. The fact is that the digital captivity of the device turns out to be the same children as himself, so now the boy must save his peers from computer slavery. In general, both in terms of the plot and, in fact, the tone of the narrative, "Labyrinth" resembles Rodriguez's " Black Bullet Season 2" - and a triquel in 3D . Lots of inappropriate but charming computer special effects, travels through the video game world and a strange villain with an equally strange villainous plan.

"Academy of Magic"

Animated "Harry Potter" for zoomers, or, in other words, a modern naive saga about wizards who only know their own powers. Girl Aura - a young witch - will have to join the new team and learn to communicate with wayward teachers. If "Flash and Miracle Machines" repels you with annoying didacticism, and you still want to keep your child occupied with something, there is a plan "B". The director and screenwriter was, by the way, one of the authors of Cars , Pocahontas , Mulan and even The Lion King , which means that we will have at least a touching story of growing up.

"The family has a priest"

As the name suggests, this is a fairly cynical comedy about the conflict between religion and social life. Heart surgeon Tommaso (Marco Giallini) is not only an excellent doctor and an exemplary family man, but also a convinced atheist. Unexpectedly for everyone, his son declares that he is going to become a priest, and then the loving father goes to sort it out to Don Pietro (Alessandro Gassman), who, in his opinion, has powdered the boy's brains. He will do everything to bring his new enemy to clean water, so, I think, it is worth waiting for a collision of biblical proportions.

Ring of Time

Canadian genre cinema has always been in the spotlight of cinephiles, and Ring of Time seems to be no exception. If you are a big fan of science fiction, this picture will become for you one of those films that are usually called hidden masterpieces - bright ribbons that the general public missed at one time. The story for the genre is quite common: there is a clairvoyant with amazing abilities, there are people who want to exploit them, and, finally, there is a scam whose failure for once cannot be predicted by the protagonist.
