What is kratom?
Mitragyna speciosa (kratom) is a tree present in Southeast Asia, including Malaysia and Thailand. Mitragynine is an active ingredient of kratom present in its leaves. Mitragynine as energizing effects on taking a lower dose and has soothing effects upon taking higher doses.
People have been using Bali kratom in parts of southeast Asia for decades. Other names of kratom are:
- Kakum/kakuam
- Biak
- Ketum
- Thom
- Thang
Kratom is illegal in several countries, such as Australia, Denmark, and Thailand.
Usage and safety:
Kratom is ingested in various forms such as:
- Tablets
- Capsules
- Gum
- Extracts

- Bali/red vein: this type of kratom comes from Indonesia and is reddish that provides effective pain relief. It is opioid-like out of all the strains and helps relieve pain, such as chronic pain and depression.
- Green Malay: it originates from Malaysia and is dark green. This strain helps to treat anxiety. However, low and high doses provide energy and focus along with pain relief and sedative effects accordingly.
- Thai: as per the name, it is from Thailand and green, red, and white vein. These green and white veins tend to provide stimulation by creating higher euphoric.
- Borneo: by its name, its origin is from Borneo and comes in green, red, and white veins. As compared to other strains, it has more sedating effects and used to treat stress and anxiety.
- Malaysian: including green, white, and red veins, Malaysian strains tend to provide a balance among sedative and stimulating effects. It helps in lifting mood, relieving pain, and increase focus and energy.
