Skunk No. 1

Skunk #1 is one of the original hybrids, flowering at Sacred Seed Co. in the late '70s. The strain has been used to breed some of the best strains across the world, including, but certainly not limited to: Critical Skunk, Master Kush, and Cheese. Parenting many fantastic strains in its forty- plus-year reign, Skunk #1 was the originator of the term “skunky.” As the name suggests, Skunk #1 smells strongly of skunk, and it tastes like it too. Its complementing undertones include a sweet, yet earthy scent and flavor. Once you get past that initial, harsh skunk smell, you will experience a pleasant aroma of nutmeg and berry. The parent plants of Skunk #1 are Afghani, Acapulco Gold, and Colombian Gold. From its Mexican and South American parent plants comes the strain's beautiful, green-and-marigold color and earthy flavor. Afghani also passes something along to its child plant—its skunk-like odor. Skunk #1 has been harvested around the world since it budded at Sacred Seed Co. Other dispensaries that use the strain include: Sensei Seeds, Nirvana Seeds, Royal Queen Seeds, Dutch Passion, and Flying Dutchmen. It most commonly is used to treat anxiety, loss of appetite, pain, and depression. However, it has also been shown to help treat insomnia and inflammation. Like many strains, Skunk #1 can have some negative effects. Those include the two most standard side effects, which are dry eye and dry mouth. Another common complaint is that is causes users paranoia, so if that is something you struggle with, perhaps this hybrid is not for you.
