There are plenty of ways to introduce edibles into your diet if you want to use it as an aid to treat a medical condition. One such way would be Cannabutter. But what is Cannabutter? How could it be used to serve as an aid for a medical condition? Cannabutter, also commonly known as Cannabis butter, is nothing strange. It is a butter-based spread infused with all the benefits of cannabinoids. Depending on how much cannabis is used, it can be a very potent concentration. It is an awesome contributor to treat medical conditions. But it is not only for medicinal purposes alone; it also gets used to make a wide variety of edibles. Therefore, those who want to enjoy edibles for recreational purposes can also benefit from it.

Butter is a fatty substance and when cannabinoids and terpenes from the cannabis plant are added to the butter during the heating process, the fattiness combines with the compounds and THC gets activated as a result. When consumed, it will produce the psychoactive effect sought after specifically by recreational users.   THC and CBD are not water-soluble and need a fatty substance to be absorbed.  The fat in butter serves as a perfect carrier for the cannabinoids and other compounds when digested. It is advisable to use unsalted butter for the process.

Cannabutter has multiple uses and is therefore very popular. Its versatility makes it popular for recreational and medicinal use. If you are a non-smoker, Cannabutter is a preferable way to use for your condition. Yes, it has psychoactive properties, but it also provides lank other benefits. Where vaping could serve as an additional smoking method, some people just don´t take to smoking at all. Because of the longer time it takes to be digested, it also lasts longer and has a far more intense effect. Depending on the amount consumed, it could take anything from 30 to 90 minutes to show any effect. This is due to the fact that it first has to be broken down by the digestive system before it gets taken up in the blood. The long-lasting effect thereafter could last from 4 to 12 hours depending on the weight of the person and the amount consumed. Then, according to how much was consumed and what the bodyweight of a person is, the effect can last from 4 to 12 hours.

What are the benefits of Cannabutter?  The cannabinoids introduced to the butter provide all the benefits. As mentioned above, cannabis compounds need a fatty substance to bind to. The butter serves as a type of lubricant to carry the cannabinoids and other compounds into our system. When you smoke, it could be very harsh on the throat. Butter is soft and does not have the same side effects as smoking. It has all the properties provided by THC and acts as a anti-inflammatory and pain reliever.

To make Cannabutter is not difficult at all. The wondrous aspect is that any part of the plant could be used in the process. People struggling with respiratory conditions like lung diseases and asthma, find especially value in it when they want something for pain relief or insomnia and more.

Cannabutter also finds its way into many other edible recipes. It is used in cooking, baking, or just as a simple spread. It is important to keep in mind that Cannabutter could be very potent and when used in any recipe, too much could lead to an unpleasant effect

How to make Cannabutter

First of all, THC has to be decarboxylated to activate it. Choose the desired amount and grind it. Afterward, spread it on a baking sheet and bake slowly for an hour in an oven with a low heat setting. After the process is completed, the amount needed can be infused into the butter. There are two ways to prepare the butter. A slow-cooker works very well, but a stovetop method could also do the trick. We will look at both methods.

What do you Need?

1 lb. unsalted butter

1 cup water (add more at any time if needed)

1-ounce ground cannabis flower or 1 ½ ounce quality trim (This amount will leave potent butter, if you desire less potent butter, lower the content)

Stovetop-method

  • Put one cup of water and 1 lb. of butter in pot or saucepan. Melt the butter and simmer on low. Add water to regulate temperature and be careful not to burn the butter.
  • As the butter starts melting, add the grounded cannabis
  • Keep the heat low and let the mixture simmer for 2 to 3 hours, stirring occasionally. Do not let the butter boil.

Slow-Cooker Method

  • Turn slow-cooker on low and add 1 cup of water, 1 lb. of butter and ground cannabis
  • Cover slow cooker with lid and let simmer on low for 8 to 24 hours. It can be stirred occasionally. The longer it simmers, the more potent it gets, and the more cannabinoids would be infused.

For Both Methods:

  • After simmering the desired time, pour the mixture into a glass-refrigerator safe container, using a strainer. Best is a cheesecloth, or very fine mesh, to strain out all plant products.
