COVID-19 Has Affected the US and Canadian Cannabis Market in Differently, Bruce Linton and Joe Lusardi Explain
COVID-19 has had dramatic effects to businesses around the world, and the marijuana industry is no different. You may be surprised to hear how the virus has affected the US market differently from the Canadian market. Weed Talk LIVE sits down with Bruce Linton, former CEO of Canopy Growth, and Joe Lusardi, current CEO of Curaleaf, to discuss how COVID-19 has affected the US cannabis market and the Canadian cannabis market. What are the similarities and what are the differences?
One key question that creates a domino effect for all industries in general is how did Canada not have a hot spot or key epicenter for the virus like the US has had? Was it early social distancing and quarantining that caused Canada to not have enormous spikes in COVID cases? Bruce explains that social distancing is pretty easy and much more natural in a country like Canada that only has 37 million people yet is double the land size of the US. That means that basically the population of California lives in a country twice the size of the entire USA.
What are some the advantages businesses are finding in a “Zoom” world? Bruce and Joe both talk about how doing business has changed by being online and there are actually a few advantages, like undivided attention and personal one-on-one meetings. Find out what both Bruce Linton and Joe Lusardi think about COVID-19 and the new cannabis industry in both the US and Canada. Watch below!
