I have recently started another grow. I wrote a few months back about my cheap little grow box. The previous yield from there was roughly an ounce of some of the best shit I have ever smoked. Sure, my grow box only uses two large CFL lights and has Mylar plastered on the box walls, but it sure as hell did the trick on my last crop out.
This time around I’m going to be SCROGGING the box. So I planted two distinct seeds and they barely started to sprout. Once they reach the ideal side, I’m going to weave in a screen to four sticks I fastened to the box. This will act as my screen.
I will then top off the plants, and start taking each of the big branches to their own unique “hole” within the screen until I cover the entire surface. Once that is done, I’ll force flower and hopefully, based on my calculations, I should be cropping out about 48-60 grams of the stuff.
What this means is that there will be more live resin available for me to smoke when it comes to trim time. And that is where we’ll begin….
The First Time I Smoked Live Resin
I smoked Live resin for the first time last year when I cropped out and trimmed my first crop. I sat in my room, with a joint in mouth and began trimming. Some people like to dry trim, however I find that doing an initial trim while the plant is still “wet”, allows me to be more precise with my trimming. More importantly, my scissors are usually covered with live resin after I’m done trimming.
The last time I was trimming, I didn’t expect the scissor blade to get covered so much with resin. Once I finished the trim to where I was satisfied, I hung the plant in my closet to dry for 3-4 days. That’s when I noticed the Scissors.
It was covered by this gooey-sticky substance. I decided to scrape it together, put it in a bowl and see what happens. After all, what else was I going to do with it?
What happened next was amazing…
I took that first hit of the live resin and coughed for a good five minutes. The terpenes were fresh, the hit was harsh and the taste was amazing. The fit of coughing passed only to be replaced by this bellowing sensation of euphoria sneaking up my back. The next minute I was higher than God’s balls.
I immediately picked up a guitar, played some random improvised tunes and kicked back thinking that in about an hour or so I’d be back to my normal self.
Four hours later, I could still feel the effects of the live resin. I was higher than a kite on drugs. I realized then and there…live resin is amazing!
The Ancients Knew What they Were Doing
Live Resin or Charras has been around for thousands of years. In the Himalayas there are large sections of cannabis growing wild all over the mountain. Locals, go around and rub their hands on the plants and make balls of live resin or what they call Charras.
Charras is actually a currency and people use it to trade for other goods. They have been doing this for many moons now. The practice of Charras still goes on till this very day.
I discovered that those dudes were beasts! They knew how to get high and live resin is by far one of my favorite methods. Of course, I only have access to live resin when I grow, but nowadays in legal cannabis states, you can specifically request it.
If you don’t live in a legal cannabis state….I highly recommend that you start growing a few plants. Of course, you won’t be getting a lot of it…but you’ll get enough to make you understand why live resin is such an amazing toke.
It’s not like a regular toke either. For me personally, while there was an acute spike in euphoria…the trip was also clear and energetic. The same stash, after I cured it…became way denser. Hell, one of my friends said I didn’t grow weed….it hits more like drugs.
It was a proud day for my ego.
This time around…
The first time I smoked live resin…I didn’t know what it was going to do. Now I’m wiser. I’m definitely going to be scraping as much live resin as possible from my next crop, but I’m also going to try to preserve it with the hopes of having my “glass of Champaign” so to speak every now and then.
Have you ever tried live resin before? If so, did you buy it or grow it yourself? I guess growing it gives you an extra “umph” when it comes to the effect, since you’ll have a grower’s bias to assist with the experience.
