Just a Spoon Full of Cannabis Sugar
Just a Spoons Full of Sugar keeps the medicine goes does, so they say! Canna sugar will do just the trick. As a helpful tool, cannabis-infused sugar can contribute to sweetening your coffee or tea. It can be used to sweeten baked goodies, but most of all, it can be a very handy tool for medicinal purposes. Canna Sugar can easily be sprinkled over something or dissolved in a hot drink that brings immediate relief to some medical need.
What are Canna Sugars?
Cannabis-infused sugar in any form is nothing new when it comes to cannabis-infused edibles. Just as marijuana-infused butter or oil, cannabis-infused sugar is a welcome tool in the kitchen. The infused sugar is nothing more than crystal liked sugar infused with cannabis. The most common way is to use alcohol together with sugar to extract the cannabinoids from the plant. You can also use a cannabis tincture to make the sugar. The final product is a nutty-flavored sugar that is available to be used in many ways.
Mistakes to Avoid when a Tincture is Used to make the Sugar
Making canna sugar is not difficult, but some things could go wrong. Look out for the following:
- Don´t let the tincture simmer too long – to make a canna sugar; the mixture should not be too thick. When it has the same texture as an oil, it won´ t work for sugar.
- Don´t burn the sugar – sugar burns easily, even over low heats. Keep an eye on the baking process not to burn the sugar
- Check the sugar texture – Patience is a virtue. Take your time when you dry the infused sugar. It should be dry before you store it. Too wet sugar will form mold, and almost dry sugar can be clumpy.
- Don´t use plastic to store the sugar – Plastic has a porous texture, and air would eventually leak into the container. There is also the danger of harmful chemicals in the plastic that could spoil the sugar. Use a glass container with an airtight lid rather.
What are the Benefits?
Canna sugar, like other edibles, has many benefits. For medicinal purposes, it comes in very helpful if a sudden headache or soreness in the body has to be addressed. It is readily available and has a longer expiration date than cannabis-infused butter. Some other benefits are:
- Easy to store- It is easy to store the sugar, and as an additional benefit, it has no smell. The shelf live of canna sugar is also much longer, and it doesn´t break down when exposed to light or air.
- It is versatile – Like ordinary sugar, canna sugar can be added to anything. It has a similar purpose as sugar. It doesn´t have a strong smell like cannabis and tastes almost like ordinary sugar. There is only a slightly nutty taste and can, therefore, be used as a substitute in any recipe you like. It also dissolves completely in water, which cannabis-infused butter or oil won´t do.
- It is discrete – Canna sugar looks just like regular sugar that makes it perfect for carrying along when you have outside commitments. If you need to microdose, canna sugar comes in very handy.
- Makes dosing easy – with a little bit of experimenting, you can work out your specific dosage. This makes it easier to control when you are not at home and need to take your meds.
Storing Canna Sugar the Right Way
Even though canna sugar has a long rack life, it won´t last as long as regular sugar. It is best to use it before six months so that therapeutic cannabinoids are not lost. A darker glass container with an airtight lid is preferable for long term storing. Be careful not to let moisture come into the container. If you use a mason jar, keep the sugar in the dark cupboard. Sunlight and oxygen destroy cannabinoids over time.
