Breathwork and Cannabis – The Cannahuasca Experience

People tend to place significant importance on their diets, or their exercise routines. They make sure that they drink plenty of water – albeit shitty purified water – and get sleep. This is just a few of the fundamentals of being healthy.

However – a human being can go for weeks without food and days without drinking any water. Do you know what you can’t go without for more than five minutes – breathing!

You might say, “Reginald…c’mon bro! Breathing? We all know how to breathe, I mean – I’m alive ain’t I?” and while this is 100% true – More than 90% of the people on this planet do not breathe correctly. Most people are Shallow-Mouth Breathers – meaning that they primarily breathe through their mouth and into their chests.

“But Reginald – isn’t that the way we’re supposed to be breathing?”

Nope – on the contrary, if you look at a baby’s breath, you’ll quickly notice that they engage in something called “Diaphragm breathing” or “belly breathing”. This is in fact our natural state of breathing.

Nevertheless, there’s actually much more to breathing than just breathing through the belly and nose. Today – we’re going to be taking a closer look at “Cannabis and Breathwork” and how you can achieve psychedelic states by simply retraining the way you breathe. Some people call this a Cannahuasca experience mainly because by implementing what is known as “Holotropic Breathing” – will release the endogenous psychedelic DMT – which is located in the lungs.

How to breathe to Trip!

First, we know that to breathe correctly – in that the most oxygen enters into your system – is through the nose and into the belly [diaphragm]. Nose breathing is something we should all consciously focus on because it provides plenty of benefits such as:

“The nose is built with a specific purpose: to support our respiratory system (the primary purpose of the mouth, on the other hand, is to start the digestive process). The nostrils, hair and nasal passageways are designed to assist in filtering allergens and foreign bodies from entering the lungs. The nose also adds moisture and warmth to inhaled air for smoother entry to the lungs.

Nasal breathing, as opposed to mouth breathing, has another important advantage, especially for effective and efficient exercise: It can allow more oxygen to get to active tissues. That is because breathing through the nose releases nitric oxide, which is necessary to increase carbon dioxide (CO2) in the blood, which, in turn, is what releases oxygen. Mouth breathing does not effectively release nitric oxide, which means the cells are not getting as much oxygen as through nasal breathing, which could lead to fatigue and stress.” - Source

As for breathing from the diaphragm;

It helps you relax, lowering the harmful effects of the stress hormone cortisol on your body.

It lowers your heart rate.

It helps lower your blood pressure.

It helps you cope with the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

It improves your core muscle stability.

It improves your body’s ability to tolerate intense exercise.

It lowers your chances of injuring or wearing out your muscles.

It slows your rate of breathing so that it expends less energy.

However, this is still breathing on autopilot – but things drastically change when you start breathing consciously.

Learning the Basics of Breathing in Rhythm

There are plenty of different types of breathing exercises such as Fire Breath, Water Breath, Circular Breathing, Lion’s Breath, Wim Hof, etc.

All of these produce different effects. Currently, Wim Hof is one of the most popular techniques however, for our current Cannahuasca experience – we’ll be engaging in what is known as 4-7-8 breathing.

This particular rhythm will help for stress, anxiety and encourages you to relax. It helps you step out of “Fight, Flight, Freeze or Fold” responses. The Navy Seals also use this type of breathing to clear their minds before an operation.

Here’s a quick overview:

Sigh and exhale all of the air you have inside

Breathe in through the nose for four seconds [count in your head]

Hold your breath for seven seconds

Exhale for eight seconds

**On the exhale, you’ll want to make a “Sighing sound” and simply release everything**

You’ll continue this process for at least 10-minutes. Once you’re done with the 10-minutes of breathing like this – you’ll take a slow-deep inhale to the max of your lung capacity, and then release completely with a sigh. At the end of the sigh – make an “SSSS” sound with your mouth to let out all of the air.

Once you have completely removed all the air from the lungs – hold your breath for as long as you can. Try to resist the first instinct to breathe – fight through it. When you can’t hold it anymore, take a quick inhale and exhale – and then hold it again for as long as you can.

Once you’re ready for a full inhale – take a slow deep breath and squeeze the “perineum” [the muscles you’d squeeze when you’re holding a pee” or commonly known as “The Taint”.

As you squeeze the perineum – imagine a white light traveling from the base of your spine into your forehead.

You’ll quickly notice the psychedelic experience taking place in your body.

How cannabis factors in?

While this breathing exercise is just as effective without cannabis – I find that when you eat an edible or smoke 20-30 minutes before a Breathwork exercise – that you can go much deeper within the meditative stages [the breath holds].

It’s important to note that you should not do these breathing exercises if you have respiratory conditions if you don’t have permission from your physician. For the vast majority of the people, this experience will be fine – but it’s important to always listen to your body.

Cannabis will allow you to engage with the experience more openly – and within this framing, the psychedelic molecule located in your lungs – will help you enter into a new gnostic state of being.

If you’re looking for something that will completely revolutionize your world – try the Cannahuasca experience. I strongly recommend getting into breath work – it’s just as important as having a good diet, exercise and drinking water.

Try it – and let me know if the comments how it went.
