Study Shows Cannabis May Treat Side Effects Of HPV Vaccine
Vaccination is a hot topic, particularly when we’re talking about the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine.
There are serious safety concerns surrounding the use of the HPV vaccine. Some don’t experience any side effects at all. However, the prevalence of the vaccine and the disease in itself is alarming: according to the Center for Disease Control, around 79 million Americans are living with HPV. In fact, it’s one of the most common sexually-transmitted diseases and it’s likely that most sexually active individuals will get it sometime in their lives. There are over 40 different kinds of HPV’s which can be classified into the low-risk HPV’s, which don’t cause cancer although they present itself as genital warts, and the high risk HPV’s which can lead to cancer. Most cases of high-risk HPV infections will go away by themselves, but if undetected and untreated these can lead to different kinds of cancer.
Because of this scare, more people are likely to succumb to big pharma and get the vaccine in order to prevent it. But over the past few years, more horror stories have surfaced regarding the side effects of the HPV vaccine. The most widely used HPV vaccine is Gardasil, and its side effects include problems at the injection site (itching, swelling, bruising, redness, cellulitis, pain), headaches, nausea, and fever. There have also been reported cases of blood and bleeding problems, fainting, joint pain, seizures, weakness, and more.
In fact, some say that Gardasil is one of the biggest scandals in medical history because of the sheer impact of its side effects – despite this, big pharma keeps pushing its use. Gardasil was developed by Merck, who boasted of it being the first anti-cancer vaccine in the world. Merck used dishonest advertising to make money out of the drug, with the intention of planting fear among consumers, particularly women. Merck claimed that there was an HPV crisis but cervical cancer has been at its lowest rates in the past few years. Most of the success in the reduction of deaths from cervical cancer is attributed to regular Pap screening which can detect cervical caner, so the truth is that there really is no need to take the HPV vaccine! Yearly Pap smears provide women with the opportunity to diagnose cervical cancer in its early stages and prevent it from leading to death.
What’s even worse is that while most vaccines and other medications have to undergo many years of clinical trials to prove its safety and efficacy, for some reason, before the FDA approval Gardasil was already approved after just 6 months of trial research.
Additionally, in a 2017 study conducted by the World Health Organization, the HPV vaccine can lead to even more serious side effects such as postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), and many more.
Israel Study
A recent study released in the Israel Medical Association Journal shows that cannabis may be the answer to the side effects of the HPV vaccine. The study analyzed the short-term impact of CBD-rich hemp oil for managing symptoms of young women who suffered from side effects after taking the HPV vaccine. According to the researchers, “Due to the absence of a safe and effective therapy for these girls who were living with their families and having to deal with difficult conditions (such as emotional instability, social problems as well as school obligations), and suspecting that an endogenous cannabinoid network imbalance might be responsible for some of the described symptoms, we selected a natural therapeutic approach based on CBD-enriched hemp oil over a 3 month period in our Italian cohort.”
The participants, which were a group of 12 women between 12 and 24 years old, all experienced dysautonomic syndrome and severe somatoform. All the subjects were administered with hemp oil containing CBD at a dose of 25mg/kg each day, combined with a treatment of 2-5mg/ml of CBD one day a week until they reached the maximum dose of 150mg/ml CBD each day in 3 months.
The study’s findings were promising; the authors said that the study “demonstrated the safety and tolerability of CBD-rich hemp oil and the primary efficacy endpoint. Randomized controlled trials are warranted to characterize the safety profile and efficacy of this compound.”
Another win for cannabis! Cannabis: 10, Big Pharma: 0.
