You know what they say about old monarchs, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
Well Jamaica has decided they want to loosen up the rules on marijuana and it may mean that Queen Elizabeth is out of a job. In an article orgininally on CNN by Greg Botelho and Marilia Brocchetto shows that the Queen may be out of a job if the new Jamaican Governor Patrick Allen has his way.
As part of Allen's speech to remove the Queen from her official title, he also declares one reason is the current marijuana laws on the island of Jamaica itself.
As quoted:
One element of this relates to the Dangerous Drugs Act. In his speech, Allen called for an amendment "to give legalization for marijuana to be used for specific purposes."
Already, this legislation has been tweaked to allow the "use of ganja by persons of the Rastafarian faith and use for medical, therapeutic and scientific purposes." It also states that possession of 2 or fewer ounces of ganja -- another word for marijuana -- is no longer a criminal offense.
Poor Queen Elizabeth, she just might loose her title in Jamaica over a little doobie.
As Patrick Allen says to the Queen...
I think it may be time to schedule a trip to Jamaica, so lets get our Bob Marley on!
