Low Tech DIY Fertilizer Tricks for Bushier, Tastier, and Dankier Buds Ever

DIY marijuana fertilizer

When it comes to cultivation – every cannabis grower can agree that finding low-tech, cheap and effective methods for boosting the production of your plants is a win!

If you can do it at home – even better!

What if there was a way to make organic-natural fertilizer in your home without needing to add nutrients like Potassium, Nitrogen and Magnesium? What if all it took was adding a few healthy habits to your weekly routine to pull this off?

Fortunately – there is a way!

During this article I’ll be going over some very easy DIY methods you can use to add macronutrients to your plants that is essentially “free”. I will be covering three specific recipes for the home cultivator to use.

One recipe is designed for the Vegetative Stage while the other two are mostly used during the Flowering Stage.

‘Ricing’ the bar when growing weed!

The first trick we’re going to be looking at is Rice Water. Yep, you heard that correctly – RICE WATER!

But how does one make Rice Water you may ask?

Well – it turns out that if you ever made rice at home, and washed the rice in water prior to actually cooking it – you know, to wash off the starches and what not – the milky white water that remains is…you guessed it – RICE WATER!

In most cases, people discard this water as “waste” but did you know that rice water is packed with micro and macronutrients and is perfect to use as a vegetative “fertilizer” of sorts. It’s got Iron, Potassium, Zinc, Magnesium, Nitrogen, other minerals and probiotics.

This water is not only good for you, but good for your plants too & acts as a natural insecticide as well.

You can use Rice Water daily when watering your plants. It’s recommended to be used in the late afternoon, right before dusk. This is when the nutrients will have time to go down to the roots.

Additionally – you can use a nebulizer to spray some rice water on the actual leaf of the plant. Your plants will love it! You’ll see fewer pests and greener more robust growth.

You can use this all throughout the vegetative state & sparingly during the flowering stage.

It’s Flowering Time – Let’s go Bananas!

The next DIY trick is making “Banana Tea” for fertilizing the plant during the flowering cycle. As you may know, bananas are rich in potassium, vitamin B6, Vitamin C, Magnesium, Copper, Manganese, etc.

During the flowering cycle – cannabis plants will require a higher concentration of Potassium and Magnesium to grow robust flowers. This is where Banana Tea comes into place.

To make Banana Tea – you’ll first need to consume 4 bananas so you can have the peels. Make a smoothie, eat it in a Banana Split – or snarf it down like a chimp!

Take the 4-Banana Peels and toss them in a pot with 1-liter of water. Then boil for 15-minutes and strain out the liquid. Wait until it cools and then dilute with 3 liters of water – use this final concoction it to water your plants.

Your plants will Love it!

This tea will help promote healthier, “stankier” and bushier buds. If you’ve been having trouble getting your nugs to “NUG-OUT!” – this trick will definitely add some girth to your buds.

But this isn’t the only concoction you’ll want to use during the flowering cycle – there’s a secret weapon that can help you not only with protecting your plants, but also assist in cloning.

It’s a Succulent process to say the least…

The final trick up our sleeves is the presence of Aloe Vera. Aloe Vera is a grower’s secret weapon. Not only can it be used for increasing plant absorption of nutrients – it also acts as an insecticide.

More importantly, Aloe Vera is an incredible easy succulent to grow. It frequently creates new “shoots” meaning over the course of 2-3 years, you can have plenty of these highly beneficial cacti in your home – helping you and your plants!

But how do you effectively use Aloe for growing killer bud?

The first recipe is using it as a topical spray. To pull this off, you’ll take 2-tea spoons of Aloe Vera Gel from a fresh Aloe cutting and mix it in 4.5 Liters of Water. Place the mixture in a nebulizer and spray generously over the plants.

What this will achieve is increase plant absorptionet  of nutrients through the leaf, increase plant biodiversity with other nearby plants, and helps release various sugars at higher efficiency.

This attracts beneficial microorganisms such as mycorrhizal that increases the bioavailability of nutrients in the plant.

Not to mention…

Aloe Vera also contains compounds that can help protect the plant from fungi, bacteria, and even viral agents. It helps prevent the formation of mold and other fungal growths that are detrimental to the plant.

It also helps revitalize the soil with the presence of Sapopin – which also is toxic for certain insects and helps prevent plagues.

Aloe Vera can also help grow roots!

I have written about this previously but to make this a complete article – I’ll add a short version of this process here too.

Aloe Vera can be used as a Root Hormone and it’s incredibly simple to pull off. All you really need is about 55 Grams of Fresh Aloe Vera, that you’ll mix with 4.5 liters of water. To this mixture add 1-tea spoon of Potassium Silicate.

Simply submerge the cutting’s root in the mixture and plant it in a starter cap. You can also use some of the Aloe Vera Spray to help the cutting stay alive and receive additional nutrients to formulate new roots.

Bottom Line

With these low-tech solutions that you can make at home, you’ll notice healthier plants and bushier buds. You also begin to see just how stinky those plants will get with all the additional terpene production.

If you have been cropping out 1-2 ounces per plant – using these techniques will nearly double the production.

Obviously this is for soil growing – which is the low-tech method of growing weed.

Are you ready to grow dank nugs this year? Try this & you can thank me later!
