What Are Cannabis Sunrocks?
What are Marijuana Sunrocks? (No, Not Moonrocks) from CannabisNet on Vimeo.
By now, you’ve probably already heard of cannabis moonrocks. Pretty much the turducken of the weed world, moonrocks are one of the trendiest cannabis products out there, but certainly not one for the newbies.
Moonrocks are a game changer. Essentially, moonrocks are made up of 3 layers of THC: bud dipped in hash oil, then coated in kief. They look like small meteorites, which is pretty much why they’re called moonrocks.
But have you heard of sunrocks?
Snoop Dogg of all people has been known to say this of sunrocks: “Once the growers started to think about the THC level was what induces the high, it would be like 15 percent THC, 20 percent at the most. These fools with the Moonrock went to 60% THC. Sunrocks went to 80 percent!”
If moonrocks are your ticket to outer space, sun rocks will toss you around the constellations.
The Sunrocks Difference
Bud, kief, and oil: with these three ingredients in the equation, you’ve no doubt got a Moonrock. The problem with moonrocks is that it could be made out of poor quality bud, crappy wax, and cheap kief; and you wouldn’t have any idea.
But with sunrocks, it’s easier to tell if you’re getting your money’s worth because each it should be sparkling. Sunrocks are made by infusing concentrated THC, which is basically like dabbing and consuming dried bud simultaneously. Snoop was also right with the difference in potency: sunrocks can reach up to 80%, while moonrocks generally test at around 60%.
How To Smoke Sunrocks
Consuming sunrocks requires some thought and care. You don’t want to just toss the whole thing in your grinder. The best way to do so is like starting a ritual: using scissors, gently cut the sunrock into smaller pieces with as much tenderness as you can. If you can manage, it’s actually better to use your hands to gently rip the sunrock apart. Then load your bong or pipe with it; you can also use a blunt wrap. Pieces of your sunrock can also be sprinkled into a blunt with regular cannabis and it will elevate your high like no other. Sunrocks contain wax, so the inhalations can be a little harsh. We recommend consuming sunrocks only through bongs, pipes, or blunts. Also, keep in mind that since sunrocks contain sticky oils and fragile bud, it’s best not to use a vaporizer.
When in doubt, just do as Snoop says when it comes to sunrocks: “If I do it, I take it and I sprinkle it into some regular weed. You can’t just do it by itself!”
It is not recommended to consume one whole sunrock (or a moonrock) to yourself. These products are made for sharing, because it will cause one helluva high. Generally speaking, sunrocks can give an enjoyable, blissful high that will make you feel relaxed yet upbeat when smoked in low to moderate doses. Some users compare smoking sunrocks and moonrocks to dabbing because of they share similar potencies, although the highs are pretty different. Concentrates and dabs deliver short but clear-headed and euphoric highs. Meanwhile, moonrocks and sunrocks are known to give off much longer-lasting and more powerful effects.
Where To Get Sunrocks
Sunrocks aren’t just good for the high. Top-shelf varieties of sunrocks have amazing flavor and potency, so it’s no surprise why sunrocks (and moonrocks) have generated a buzz among cannabis connoisseurs. If you want to get a hold of your own professionally made sunrocks, check out Big Tray Dee and Apollo Sun Rocks. Both hail from California.
Big Tray Dee makes sunrocks using high grade OG bud as the base, covered in sticky concentrates, and finally, dusted in kief. On the other hand, Apollo Sun Rocks uses high grade OG bud as the base, but these are infused with propane hash oil then coated in organic kief.
Sunrocks are not to be consumed for the faint of heart. You should have some experience playing the field before you decide to try it out, otherwise you might end up stuck in outer space for much longer than you thought possible! Let’s take Snoop’s word for it.
