With winter knocking on our doors, we often are looking for ways to strengthen our immune system by giving it a boost. Many traditional medical practitioners would like you to take an anti-flu shot to help you guard off any possible viral attack. But cannabis has the ability to provide a holistic approach to combat the common cold or flu virus.

As of yet, there is no known cure for the common flu and literally millions of people yearly suffer from the symptoms of flu all over the globe. In cannabis, we find the cannabinoids THC and CBD, which have anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties. This comes in pretty helpful when your body feels like it has been struck by a train.

There are many ways to incorporate cannabis as a daily intake to boost our self. Numerous edibles are available. One benefit of a cannabis-infused edible is that it has a longer-lasting effect. One such edible that comes to mind, is a cannabis-infused honey stick.

The Benefit of Honey

Honey has been used for ages to treat colds and other problems. Ancient medicine curers used honey not just as a medicine, but also as an embalmment and in ointments. Honey also has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties and is known to soothe a sore throat. The therapeutic properties in honey make it thus perfect to use with cannabinoids. Together they make a potent shot to up the immune system.

Honey also helps to heal wounds and fight against staph infections. It is especially helpful against bacterial infections in the digestive tract and was even found to have an effect on E Coli and Salmonella. Honey also is a superfood that can´t expire. The anti-microbial properties in honey mean that organisms that would like to spoil honey can´t survive in it. All that happens to honey over time is for it to crystallize and that can be corrected by heating it up again.

How CBD and THC helps

THC and CBD have their own medicinal properties. The two main cannabinoids THC (delta9-tertrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (Cannabidiol), are found in large concentrations in the cannabis plant. As they both show therapeutic benefits, in and edible form they contribute to the bioavailability of hours of relief against pain and discomfort.

CBD is very good at treating pain and mood changes that are not uncommon to people suffering from a cold or the flu. As an anti-inflammatory, it helps to reduce headaches and sore throats. It also promotes better sleeping habits. THC also reliefs pain and acts as an anti-inflammatory. It furthermore acts as an anti-emetic. This is a great contribution as those suffering from colds often feel like vomiting.

How do the cannabis-infused honey sticks work?

We already established that honey, together with the cannabinoids THC and CBD, have great potential to combat the common cold or the flu. But it is no the only medical condition it is good for. The similar properties of honey and cannabis make it a perfect match for specifically people suffering from autoimmune diseases.

When a person has an autoimmune disorder, the person´s own immune system attacks the body and causes inflammation that leads to many different symptoms. Some common know conditions relating to autoimmune disorders are celiac disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and inflammatory bowel disease. All of these diseases have very painful symptoms. Cannabis-infused honey sticks come in very handy as it is easy to take with when a person has to go out somewhere. Apart from being discrete, concentration can be better regulated, and patients have an easier way to control their intake. As it comes in a straw, a person can decide to take it just as it is from the straw or add it to a drink mix.

What you need for a CBD-Infused Honey Stick

CBD oil, CBD Isolate powder or CBD unflavored tincture

2 cups of honey, preferably local organic honey

              Saucepan

              Thermometer and wire stirring tool

              Straws and needle nose pliers

              Candle and lighter

Method

Use the saucepan to heat water up and place the glass cup inside. Wait for the water to boil. A thermometer is needed to verify the temperature. It should reach 95degrees Fahrenheit.

When reaching the set temperature, let the cup sit in the water for a bit to heat up too.

Add the CBD product into the cup. The desired amount is the choice of the one making it. Add the honey on top.

Keep on stirring the mix until it is well blended.

Remove from the heat and let the mixture cool down for a bit.

When cool enough, add to a glass container and store it in a cool place.

Making the Sticks

Light a candle and hold the one end of straw over the flame. When it starts to melt, close the end with the pliers until it is nice and tight.

Use something like a funnel to pour the cannabis-infused honey into the straw until it is almost full.
