Most Americans believe Alcohol is worse than Marijuana

With cannabis becoming more popular every single day, a research firm went out to see how Americans view the danger profile of cannabis vs alcohol. According to the study, most Americans thing that alcohol is far more dangerous than cannabis. This despite the fact that cannabis is placed on a Schedule I status right next to heroin, LSD and so forth.

What’s more, sugar came out to be “more dangerous” to Americans than marijuana according to the research.

That was particularly interesting to us, just to see that a higher percentage of Americans think alcohol is very harmful compared to marijuana,” Rory McGee, research director for DIG Insights, told The Daily Caller News Foundation. “We’re certainly not commenting on what is and is not harmful, but those are the attitudes in America. It was also very interesting that people thought processed sugar and saturated fats are more harmful than marijuana.” [Daily Caller]

The Truth about Alcohol

TRUTH ABOUT BEER

Why is alcohol perceived as “more dangerous” to an individual than cannabis? Well, if we take Federal data, we’d find that roughly 40% of all violent crimes are linked directly to alcohol. With roughly 7% of the entire US population having a drinking problem, or roughly 13.5 million people, many people know someone who suffers with alcohol addiction.

Alcohol kills roughly 88,000 per year and roughly 10,000 traffic fatalities are attributed to alcohol each year. In 2010, alcohol misuse cost the United States $249 billion dollars with more than ¾ relating to “binge drinking”.

1 in 10 children live with a parent who has an alcohol problem. In 2013, there were 72,559 liver disease deaths with 45% of them being directly attributed to alcohol.

Among all cirrhosis deaths in 2013, 47.9 percent were alcohol related.

Where am I getting all these stats from? This all comes directly from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism.

The fact of the matter is that alcohol is associated with death, violence and disease in the realm of health. It is no wonder that Americans view alcohol as a potential danger, because it claims thousands of lives each year mercilessly, yet we see it glorified on television despite this fact.

The Truth about Cannabis

TRUTH ABOUT WEED

Now let’s take a closer look at Cannabis. There has never been a single death attributed to cannabis consumption alone. Sure, you’ll hear about the kid who jumped out of the window or the guy who shot his wife, however neither of these were actually due to cannabis itself. For the most part, these are unstable people who should have been under psychological treatment for their disorders.

There has been no significant increase in traffic fatalities in states that have legalized cannabis, meaning that there is no direct link to “impaired driving fatalities” and marijuana.

On the other hand, we do have stats on cannabis such as 25% fewer opioid deaths in states that have legalized, higher productivity within the workforce due to fewer sick days being taken in states that have legalized and of course the whole array of conditions and illnesses currently being treated by the plant.

Then we also have the fact that more than 20% of the US population tried cannabis last year, and they all discovered the mild effects of the plant first hand.

The Perceptive Shift

ALCOHOL VERSE CANNABIS

Is it strange to think that people believe cannabis is safer than alcohol, sugar and saturated fats? Not at all! People have been using cannabis as a medicine for thousands of years and despite a systematic negative propaganda campaign by dear old Uncle Sam, the truth about cannabis survived.

When someone who is on death’s bed, with no other options available seemingly miraculously recuperate from their condition post-cannabis…it makes you wonder.

Additionally, with stories like Brave Mykayla and Charlotte Figi catching international attention, the perception on cannabis shifted quite drastically. “If it can help a kid with seizures and another with leukemia, then it can’t possibly be as bad as alcohol”.

You see, the medical benefit of alcohol is very limited. For the most part, people use it to disinfect yet beyond that it’s very limited.

MEDICINE AND CANNABIS RESEARCH

Cannabis is said to treat up to 200 diseases, making it an actual medicine. Additionally, since you can’t physically O.D on weed, it lowers the danger profile significantly.

In fact, a study a few years back found that alcohol is 124 times more lethal than cannabis and was considered the “most dangerous substance” around.

The fact of the matter is that despite the attempt of the government to make weed to be the “bad guy”, people have discovered the truth and no longer can be duped into believing the systematic lies of the government. There is a revolution brewing and it’s not just of the body but of the mind.

Is cannabis harmless? Of course not, people can abuse anything, however if we’re comparing it to alcohol, it’s a fluffy puppy dog [cannabis] compared to a great white shark with blood lust [alcohol].
