Why Stoner’s LOVE their Toys
Inside the $40 Billion Bong, Pipe, and Cannabis Ancillary Business from CannabisNet on Vimeo.
The first time you smoke reefer, you probably smoked a joint, a pipe or even a bong. Many of us started with “Ghetto Toys” such as homemade steamrollers, Wilfred Bongs and so forth. However, once you have accepted the stoner lifestyle, odds are you started buying your own gear to facilitate the smoking process.
These days, the paraphernalia industry is worth $40 billion dollars a year and as a result, the gear that is now accessible to stoners have truly become something amazing. I for one have probably spent thousands of dollars on pipes, bongs and vaporizers over the years. Seeing that I have been smoking nearly for two decades, it all adds up.
Nonetheless, I have loved each and every one of my pieces and they have become an intricate part of my smoking rituals. All of my stoner friends too have purchased a wide array of smoking gear and as I, love them to bits.
As mentioned, we all started at the bottom. Cheap plastic bongs, makeshift pipes and ghetto vaporizers all form part of our stoner legacy. However, there comes a point in time in every stoner’s life where these cheap alternatives simply don’t cut it.
The first bong I ever bought wasn’t all that fancy. Perhaps it cost me around $50 and it served me quite well through its life span. I thought at first that this will be all I buy, but soon realized, that this was onlythe beginning.
At one point in time, I had over 30 pipes and six bongs in my house. I even rigged my car to be a massive bong at one stage. My pipe box had pieces of all caliber. Color changing glass pipes, hand crafted wooden pipes and some crazy pieces that you can only find in remote places of the world. It was my joy and pride.
Each pipe had its own name, personality and function within my stoner lifestyle. My bongs were also prized possessions with their own names, personalities and functionality within a social setting.
I had to get rid of most of them when I moved, but once I settled in I decided to rebuild the arsenal.
Tech made my toys more desirable
Over the years, innovation within the paraphernalia industry turned my bongs and pipes into tech gadgets of the future. Get cleaner hits, stretch your stash longer and simply look like a badass when you smoke.
Nowadays I have several different vaporizers, my Pax being one of my favorite on-the- go pieces, but lately I scaled up again.
All of my latest pieces cost now well over $100 per piece and some even come close to the $500 mark.
While my collection isn’t as robust as before, they are much more professional looking and provide me with greater satisfaction when using it.
The latest addition to my collection is the Pulsar Hand-E- Nail which hits like Tyson in his prime. I’ll do a review on the piece in the near future.
Bottom line
Innovation and technology have truly pushed the envelope when it comes to smoking pieces. Whether you vape, dab or smoke flower, there is something for you out there. If you’re stingy about your money, don’t worry…a good solid piece is more of an investment than an expense. My pieces last me years and provide good times nonstop.
What’s your favorite stoner toy?
