Marijuana has been on a winning streak, no, make that a roll. With the recent November elections where 8 states added either a medical marijuana law or added a recreational law, and the sold out, super excited MJ Biz Conference going on in Las Vegas this week, you would think that the green rush can’t be stopped now. Well, think again. We are not out of the woods yet, and as Bill Maher likes to say, we have a long way to go before marijuana is completely legal.
The worst news of the day is that President Trump has named Alabama Republican senator Jeffery Sessions as his new attorney general. This is the same Senator how is on record with the following quotes about medical marijuana.
“Marijuana can’t be safer than alcohol because Lady Gaga Is Addicted To it” (Forbes, 2014)
“Good people don’t smoke marijuana.”
“Caucus member Jeff Sessions (R.-Al.) spoke of the need to foster ”knowledge that this drug is dangerous, you cannot play with it, it is not funny, it’s not something to laugh about… and to send that message with clarity that good people don’t smoke marijuana.” (senate transcripts)
“I’m a big fan of the DEA,” said Sessions, before asking Leonhart point blank if she would fight medical marijuana legalization.
“I have seen what marijuana use has done to young people, I have seen the abuse, I have seen what it’s done to families. It’s bad,” Leonhart said. “If confirmed as administrator, we would continue to enforce the federal drug laws.” (Daily Caller)
And finally…
"The 69-year-old, four-term Alabama Republican is a hard-liner on free trade and immigration, arguing that prospective immigrants don’t have constitutional protections. He has opposed efforts to overhaul prison sentencing, back off the war on drugs and legalize marijuana." (Zerohedge)
So if you wanted an attorney general who loves the DEA, wants to keep the prision system as/is, doesn't care for immigrants, and hates marijuana, you got him.
This may help explain what marijuana stocks are almost all done over 10% today in the early trading markets.
Medical marijuana has been on a roll lately, so were due for a swift kick in bong.
