Cannabis, Tapping and Trauma – a Path to consider

Cannabis has long been used for its medicinal properties spanning since the dawn of recorded history – or at least the ‘version their selling us’ if this quarantine has managed to intensify your innate sense of universal paranoia.

The truth is that cannabis has long served us in assisting our bodies and minds in repairing itself. And let’s not fool ourselves – it’s always your body and mind healing yourself. No amount of medication, or therapies will ever be able to substitute the work you do when it comes to healing. It’s the great myth that we are being healed from the medicine.

No – the medicine helps reduce the effects of the symptoms – but it’s always your body and mind doing the healing. Cannabis has long been used as an agent that facilitates this process because of the chemical structure of the plant. The cannabinoids found within the plant resembles our own internal “endocannabinoids” almost perfectly – almost…as if…it was made to be consumed by us.

So if cannabinoids are important? Then the endocannabinoid system – the system responsible for maintaining homeostasis within the mind and body – is a crucial aspect to healing.

Most of your Illness is a Manifestation of your Trauma

Now – let’s this a step further. One could argue that people get sick because of external conditions – and this would not be a lie. There are many external pathogens – ahem, take a look outside – that can be devastating to people. However, there are moments when patients display symptoms without an apparent cause.

These “medically unexplained” phenomena is also known as “psychosomatic symptoms” or symptoms that occur because you are convinced you have a disease you don’t have.

Numerous studies have demonstrated that many of the physical complaints presented to physicians are unexplained from a medical perspective. Depending on the setting, between 30 and 66% of patients who seek medical care have unexplained symptoms. According to a 1996 estimate, the eight most common physical complaints (fatigue, backache, headache, dizziness, chest pain, dyspnea, abdominal pain, anxiety) account for more than 80 million physician visits annually in the United States, and only 25% of these symptoms have a demonstrable organic (of the body) cause. According to the Marshall Pathogenesis and as described elsewhere in the Knowledge Base, many of these “unexplained” symptoms are likely due to microbes. - SOURCE

It’s true that health experts are tuning into the influence of microbes within a myriad of health conditions – however, we cannot eliminate the FACT that the mind plays a significant role in our physical dis-ease.

Now – some of you might be thinking, “Sure Reg – but I have an accident to prove I’m sick…and it’s because of X or Y” of which I would agree with you 100%. All of your reasons for your physical ailments are completely true because you believe it to be true.

However – the pain, and trauma you keep on suffering is no longer the trauma you DID suffer. I’ll let that sink in for a bit.

What this means is that;

Yes – a horrible ‘thing’ did happen to you – once or maybe several times in the past.

Your subconscious took that traumatic experience and gave it meaning in order to protect yourself. This was an irrational imprint created in the moment and using your psychological defenses to ensure your survival.

Every time you “relive that experience” – you edit the experience and store it again. You alter it based on how you are feeling now, what happened to you, your emotional state – revisit the memory, alter it – and then have this new “altered version” be your reality.

This means that the ORIGINAL TRAUMA is long gone and what you are ACTUALLY SUFFERING is a twisted version of the truth filtered and re-filtered through a metaphoric mind.

When Cannabis Meets Tapping

I only recently learned about this strange thing called “tapping”. If you’re not familiar – you can check out this dude here -  he’s got a lot of free material for studying on his Youtube channel. I also won’t be able to explain it better than him since he created the method I’m about to share.

EFT Tapping or Emotional Freedom Technique or Energy Field Therapy or whatever other name they have for it is essentially a DIY method of Acupuncture.

What these crazy “tappers” discovered was that the old eastern mystics and their meridian points actually did act as an electric circuitry of sorts. When you’re experiencing an emotion [energy in motion] – it flows through these meridian points. It turns out – that these points get activated even when you’re thinking about a memory.

By tapping on these points – you manage to interrupt the current of the emotion and flip it.  In a sense – you’re re-writing your imagined history.

HEY! WHAT DOES CANNABIS HAVE TO DO WITH IT!

I’m getting there…

All of this meridian point stimulation has a direct impact on neuroplasticity – and it just so happens that when you consume cannabis – you also increase neuroplasticity as well as induce “neurogenesis”. In other words – it’s primed for reworking and editing your memories.

BUT DOES IT WORK?

I don’t know if it will work for you – I am not a doctor. I’m a dude who suffered with a neck pain [cannabis helped keep it down] for years – but since I started tapping saw a drastic reduction in pain within a matter of days.

The neck pain did reduce when I started with yoga – but only reached a specific point. It wasn’t until I started tapping that it’s virtually non-existent.

As someone who consumes cannabis as a dietary essential every day – I attribute a lot of the rapid change to providing my body and mind with the necessary tools to get the job done – cannabis being a fundamental part of the process.

All I can say is ‘give it a try´- you have absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain. Suspend your disbelief for one moment, try something outside of your comfort zone and who knows – maybe you can shed your trauma for good using this method. Or not – but then, at least you can call this method a “waste of time” with 100% certainty.
