Getting high before having sex may be the key to intensified orgasms and a better sex life.

In this article we’ll explore the sexy connection between cannabis and arousal, and how getting stoned before lovemaking can heighten your senses.

During my university years, I was a pothead.

I was also dating someone at the time who loved pot even more than I did. In fact, I attribute my affinity for getting high to him.
Our relationship was routinary, but this doesn’t mean it was boring: on weekdays, he’d pick me up from school, and we’d smoke up immediately in his car; have sex at his place, smoke some more, and go out to dinner. On weekends, it was similar: he’d pick me up, we’d get high, have sex, then meet friends and smoke up with them. We rarely ever had arguments because we were too high and happy all the time but one distinct aspect of our relationship was that each time we’d get high, I’d instantly develop an insatiable desire to have sex.

I was ravenous.

Smoking weed turned me into a horn dog!

I mean, everyone loves sex right? But sex on weed amplifies the senses and makes every touch totally electrifying. We know that weed makes you feel good, so imagine how it feels when you have sex while you’re stoned.

Fast forward 8 years later: I still love weed and sex, but what I love the most are those two combined. And I know I’m not alone.

Ancient Aphrodisiac

Sexual marijuana use dates back to ancient India where it was used in the Ayurvedic system to increase libido, facilitate lubrication, and increase the duration of orgasms. In fact, some Tantric sex practitioners even drank a concoction called a bhang which was sort of like a marijuana milkshake with spices added, designed to intensify the sexual experience. Indian prostitutes reportedly consumed bhang sherbet to help them become aroused prior to having sex, even when they weren’t attracted to their customers at all.

Anyone who’s ever been able to benefit from weed sex has anandamide to thank.

Anandamide is a sensual neurochemical that mimics the effects of THC in the body which affects parts of the brain that control feelings of pleasure. When you smoke weed, anandamide receptors work overtime. Combine this with the fact that THC releases dopamine (the neurochemical which influences feelings of pleasure) in the brain, and you’ve got a recipe for sexy time.

Less Is More

When it comes to using marijuana as an aphrodisiac, dosage plays an important role. Cannabis-infused sex products are now going mainstream on retail sites online.

Although smoking up almost always guarantees that I’ll get turned on more than usual, getting too stoned to have sex has happened to me a couple of times. I’d become too burnt out to perform because all I’ll want to do is lie down in bed. Being a “starfish” isn’t exactly cool since one partner has to do all the work.

Although the effects will differ depending on dosage and tolerance of people, a low to moderate dose is generally recommended. If it takes a whole joint to get you really stoned, maybe try opting for ¾ of a joint or just a few bowl loads.

The thing with marijuana is that it affects each one of us so differently in fact many users have even reported that it’s had the opposite effect for them. Some friends of mine have reported having a difficult time achieving orgasms when they get stoned with their partners, simply because they’re too preoccupied thinking about the meaning of life, or contemplating relationship issues. When it comes to sexual encounters with weed, it really is different for everyone.

If you want to try it as an aphrodisiac, some experimentation with your partner may be needed (wink, wink).

Your turn to kiss and tell

Have you ever had sex while you were stoned? How did it affect the overall experience?
